Gigginstown recorded a 1-2 in the Coral (Pro-Am) Bumper at Navan as Battle Of Midway proved too good for Multifactorial

The two geldings in the familiar maroon and white silks set down to fight it out from over two furlongs out but it was the Noel Meade-trained 7/1 chance that proved the stronger in the closing stages.

Mark O’Hare’s mount asserted inside the final furlong and kept on well to beat Multifactorial (100/30) by two lengths. You Can Call Me Al was well-backed near the off from 100/30 down to 9/4 favourite but could only keep on at one pace to finish a further three quarters of a length back in third.

Battle Of Midway had gone close in two previous bumper outings this year at Fairyhouse and Punchestown, and may now be put away until next season.

Meade said, “It's great to have an owner that doesn't mind running two!. I said to Eddie yesterday I want to run and he said 'then I would run him because I think the other lad is beatable'.

“I'd say that's it for the season now. I wouldn't think he'd run again. Mark said he felt he wasn't mad about the ground but I hope he's wrong!”
