Mark O'Hare is staking his claim as Nina Carberry's possible replacement on Noel Meade trained bumper horses at present and the Cheltenham festival winner steered his third recent bumper winner for the trainer in the concluding Kevin Egan Cars (Pro/Am) Bumper at Sligo today on newcomer The Red Menace
Experienced O'Hare steered Tammys Hill to win the 2013 Cheltenham Foxhunters and despite being in his 21st season with a jockeys' license, still holds a useful 5lbs claim.
Eight to 15 favourite Roll Again was bidding to give Willie Mullins a four-timer on the day but raced keen and green and was eventually beaten 12 lengths by the Denis Hannon owned winner.
Meade wasn't present but afterwards O'Hare said “the further he went he seemed to get more comfortable. They just had him on his head for the first mile.
“It was all new to him, and the lively ground too, but as the race went on he just got better and better.”
