Brace Yourself brought up Gowran Park doubles for Noel Meade and Sean Flanagan when winning the concluding beginners’ chase.

The even-money favourite made the best way around over this two and a half mile trip and had enough in the tank to outgun Mister Fogpatches (11/4) by two and a quarter lengths.

“He promised to be a good horse one time and hopefully he'll get back there,” said Noel Meade.

“He had a little bit of an issue with a hind leg which held him up. Last season was a bit of a non event as nothing went right for him.

“He seemed to like that goodish ground, he's a Mahler and a lot of them do. Two-and-a-half miles is his minimum.

“We jumped when he needed him, when he sent him down he jumped, so that was good.”

Flanagan and Meade also landed the maiden hurdle on the card with Lignou
