Truckin All Night justified some good support when sticking on well in the closing stages to land the three-mile handicap hurdle at Clonmel.
Paddy Mangan sat behind the leaders before hitting the front turning for home on the gelding, trained by his father Jimmy.
He was followed through by the veteran Catch Me and the pair fought it out from the second last.
Truckin All Night proved strongest in the closing stages as he stayed on best on the run-in to post a length-and-three-quarters success.
The winner was sent off 4/1 joint favourite, having been 10/ this morning.
He had shown a bit more on his last start when eighth at Listowel.
“He hasn’t been a bad old servant. We were pleased with his last run at Listowel. Patrick said then to step him up to three miles next time so we did,” said Mangan senior.
“It wasn’t a hectic contest but he can only beat what is in front of him. He’s a great jumper. He’ll go for another handicap hurdle and will probably go chasing soon.”
Cool Oscar was sent off the other 4/1 joint favourite but only beat one home in a poor seventh.
