Bill Lee moved two winners clear of Colin Keane at the head of the Jockeys' Championship today, steering Roman Bull (9/4) to win Clonmel's Slievenamon Maiden for trainer Michael O'Meara.

Beaten 44 lengths on a previous course outing in an April bumper, the son of Teofilo had finished second on two subsequent flat maiden starts and today beat runner-up Six Feet Under (11/8f) by a length and a half.

The win moves Lee to 72 winners this season, two more than three-time champion Keane, and later said “he’s run good races against the three-year-olds and I thought this four-year-olds-and-up maiden would be a big help to him.

“He loved the ground and when I picked him up he picked up well. He was just doing enough in front but galloped well to the line.

“I was willing to make it or sit second but we went a nice pace. I was happy where I was and was able to kick into the straight.”
