One horse trainer Joe Hennessy was on the mark with his Kiln Rock gained a valuable winning bracket in the Rosslare (Mares) Handicap Hurdle at Wexford today, winning under jockey Andrew Lynch.
Hennessy, whose Kiln Rock is his only horse in-training and runs in his wife Bernie’s colours, later stated “we didn't expect her to win but we thought she'd run well. It's important for her to get a bracket as she has a very good pedigree - her dam is a half-sister to Harbour Pilot and she’ll make a nice broodmare in time. We bought her as a foal to be a broodmare.
"We'll try and find another one for her if she is okay after the ground today. She got hampered at the first hurdle the last day and Rachael (Blackmore) came in and told us that she probably wanted a longer trip and you could see from today that she might want another half mile maybe. I have to credit my son Richard, he rides her out most of the time - I get the odd ride on her!"
“She’s the only one we have in training - Talk The Lingo won for us at Galway last year but unfortunately he broke his leg on his next start.”
