Aprils Joy stuck to her task well to open her 'track' account in the mares maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan.

Gavin Cromwell 's charge, a point-to-point winner back in January, had also shown some solid form in maiden hurdles and came into today's race with a rating of 109.

She went to post the 11/10 favourite in the two-mile-three contest and was produced to lead on the long run to the last by Jonathan Moore.

The daughter of Ask stuck on well from the final flight to record a length-and-three-quarters win over Champagne Diva

“She was entitled to win that off her mark so in theory the handicapper shouldn't do anything to her,” said Cromwell.

“They are new owners so to start off on a winner is nice.

“She's handicapped on the Flat as well so she might go for a staying handicap somewhere.”
