Danz Gift brought up his fourth win over the five-furlong sprint in Dundalk with a taking performance.

The well backed 11/4 joint favourite only had one horse behind him turning in but he was switched right by Ronan Whelan a furlong and a half down and started to make good progress.

The seven-year-old gelding soon closed and tackled Haqeeba in the final furlong before going on to win going away by two lengths. Pillar (13/2) got up for second by a neck from Haqeeba, also at 13/2. The winner was popular throughout the day from a price of 9/2. Glenmoore the other 11/4 joint favourite, finished out of the places in fourth.

"I just love that horse. Ronan gave him a fantastic ride and he gets on really well with him,” trainer Sheila Lavery said.

“The trick with him is that you've just got to miss the gates and the last couple of times he's just bounced too well. If he does that it's game over.

“They went good and hard there. Hopefully he'll come out of this well and turn up again on Tuesday.

“He was never going to run in Tipperary because he needs good ground and when I saw the race was switched to here it suited perfectly.

“All these five furlong races you could run them five times and get five different winners. Things have to go your way. He is what he is and he's just great to have in the yard.”
