Groom & Best Man combine with Some Say
James Nash recorded his first winner since March 13th, (when Red Basil won a Handicap Chase at Gowran) as his Some Say stayed on best to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle.
On just her third career start, the 6yo justified her price as 7/2 second favourite after finishing an eye-catching second on her last start over the course behind Lisrenny Lady.
The winning daughter of King's Theatre raced in mid division, before getting a fantastic run up the inside to lead before the straight. Cinderella Story who finished second, made a mistake at the last but had her chance after that but couldn't peg back the winner.
Winning rider David Casey was having his first ride back since getting hitched a fortnight ago tomorrow.
Winning trainer Nash, who was Casey’s best man, said afterwards: "That was the obvious race for her as it was for mares that hadn't run in more than two hurdles.
"She will have a break now and we were lucky to get that win as she wants proper winter ground."
Chase The Favourite ran a nice race to take third at 10/1, while the 9/4fav Par Five could only manage fifth.
