Green Tag only lost out to the progressive Mekong River in the stewards room at Gowran back in August and bids to put the record straight in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden at Dundalk this evening.
Mekong River completed a four-timer in the Listed Eyrefield Stakes at Leopardstown last Sunday, and Michael O'Callaghan believes Green Tag can now gain a deserved win as he faces 13 rivals in the six-furlong event.
"Green Tag is very well. I felt he needed the run the last day at Dundalk, and all going well and with a bit of luck, I think he will take a bit of beating."
Taking him on is Pat Shanahan's Helen's Armada an Oratorio filly.
"She is a nice filly. She has never run on sand before so we will see how she handles it, but I am hopeful of a good run," said Shanhan.
O'Callaghan runs Palladus in the first division of the six-furlong maiden and Mr Bounty in the second division.
"Palladius won her maiden over five furlongs in England, but she hasn't shown the best attitude since coming to us. If she puts in her best effort she would have a chance, but she has her own ideas and we are just trying to get the best out of her."
"Mr Bounty has form at Dundalk, and I was a bit disappointed he didn't win at Navan the last day. He was the last horse off the bridle but he fell in a bit of a hole. He has a good chance."
Shanahan's Dancing Cosmos is chasing a hat-trick in the one-mile handicap as is That's Plenty in the 10-furlong handicap.
"Dancing Cosmos has gone from 52 to 65 for her two wins in England. She is well, and while she is badly drawn, I think she has a big chance," said Shanahan.
"That's Plenty won very well the last day, but you'd have to question the opposition there. He is gone up nine pounds for that win and he should run well."
