Grant on the Mark with Cork double
Her dam, Markskeepingfaith was a three time winner at Galway Festivals in 1998, 1999 and 2000 and ten years on from the last of those, her daughter She's Our Mark showed a liking for the beginning of August too by landing the third Group 3 of her career in the Give Thanks Stakes at Cork.
Danny Grant, riding the daughter of Ishiguru a winner for the eighth time and completing a double on today's programme (the Waterford pilot earlier scored on Foolproof and rode a winner at Galway yesterday) got the six-year-old into top gear on the outside up the straight and she led about a hundred yards out. From there she went on to beat Leo Gali and favourite, Zarebiya by a length and a half and a short head.
Winning trainer, Pat Flynn said: "I felt she had a good chance today and I feel now that she'll get a mile and six. She only cost around 12 grand as a yearling and she has been an unreal servant as she's had well over forty runs at this stage.
"We'll play it by ear with her now and we'll continue to aim her at these type of races. Between herself and Bahrain Storm – they're keeping me in business."
The winning owners, the B & M Syndicate are from Killarney.
