Trainer Mick Mulvany is eyeing a quick turnaround for today's Gowran winner Rough And Touch (100/30jf), which landed the Paulstown Handicap (div I) to continue apprentice jockey Wesley Joyce's recent purple patch.
Joyce, who was seriously injured at the 2022 Galway festival, was notching his 11th success since returning in August and today steered the Tough As Nails-sired winner to a half-length win over Adhuil
The winner is declared for tomorrow's 3.40pm race at the Kilkenny venue - with jockey Ben Coen booked, and Mulvany reports “hopefully he eats up well as we’ll run him when he’s fit and well.
“That’s probably his trip (1m1f) - it’s a mile tomorrow but at this stage of his career and on this ground, it should be enough for him.”
He added “I was a bit disappointed the last day in Navan but he’s made up for it today. It’s taken all year for him to fill into his frame.
“Wesley put it to bed early in the straight. I was worried did he go too early but he’s held on.
“We probably won’t go hurdling with him this year as he’s a bit unfurnished.”
