25/1 shot Elusive Gent was another to lunge late as he got up close home to land the spoils in the Reiss Handicap at Down Royal.

Last Minute Lisa took them along in the seven-furlong contest and looked to have her rivals on the stretch as she poached a three-length lead with over a furlong to run.

Derek McCormack got a good tune from the Jim Gorman-trained Elusive Gent inside the final furlong, however, and he chased down the front-runner to get up for a half-length victory.

The winner had only been placed once in 22 previous starts and finished well beaten on his previous outing at Bellewstown last month.

“He's always had ability and he showed it in Dundalk (when third in February). He's a little bit Elusive!” said Gorman.

“Derek gave him a great ride. He could have ridden Jane Foley's horse (Missile Command) who was third in Gowran, but I put my foot down.

"Everything went right for him today and he'll go to Dundalk for the winter. Every horse has their day!"

The winner, who carried a pound overweight, paid £51.80 on the Tote.
