Fromajacktoaking could be called the winner a long way out from home in the seven furlong nursery at Fairyhouse.
Ronan Whelan always had the Paul Deegan-trained colt in the front rank on the outside and the pair were going ominously well on the turn for home.
A swish of the reins a furlong out and Fromajacktoaking put distance between himself and the field and he came in by three lengths at odds of 4/1 joint favourite. Estinaad (9/1) and Light Particle (6/1) came in second and third respectively.
Winning trainer Paul Deegan said: “He’s a horse that’s going the right way and he’ll go for a nursery at the Curragh this weekend.
“He’s a really likeable horse and is tough, hardy and very straightforward.”
Deegan again talked of his charge being a horse for the valuable Birdcatcher race.
The winning syndicate features Racing Post Ireland editor Jonathan Mullin who wasn’t present as he is on holiday in Portugal.
Paul Byrne and Gavin Lynch from the Racing Post were in attendance to welcome in their winner.
This race was subject to a delay of 12 minutes as the track rail was altered due to the amount of standing water on the course.
There was a market move for Lindenhurst from 11/1 to 7/1, but he finished unplaced.
This was Ronan Whelan's 26th winner of the season and he said he thinks there will be more to come from the horse.
