Fleurys Fort picked off front-running Paris Snow with less than half a mile to race and went on to record a victory in the two mile four handicap hurdle at Sligo.

Paris Snow had raced with a huge advantage throughout but the petrol gauge went into the red after the third last. Fleurys Fort swept by travelling well on the way to the second-last.

After he negotiated that flight, he was ridden before the home bend by Ryan Treacy and popped the last ahead of All's Quiet

The eight-year-old gelding asserted on the run-in to prevail by two and a half lengths at 11/2 from an opening show of 13/2 and 11/1 in the morning. Weather Watch kept on for second at 10/1. All's Quiet, the 11/4 favourite, was a length and a quarter further back in third.

Leslie Young 's stable representative Ken Hodgins said: "We were more hopeful than confident. He did it well and on his good days he's a good horse but he's after having a couple of disappointing runs.

“There wasn't much between them and it was a tight handicap but he had a nice weight down the bottom.”

Fleurys Fort carried 10st 1lb with Treacy's 2lb claim factored in.
