The Mouse Morris trained Baily Green recorded his fifth success in-a-row as he took the feature race at Roscommon this evening, the Grade 3 Kilbegnet EBF Novice Chase under David Casey.

Despite being taken out of engagements at Wexford and Galway during the summer due to soft ground, the 6yo son of King's Theatre was risked in the testing conditions here.

Sent off the 2/1 second favourite, he made all the running and went clear after the last (usually the second last, last fence omitted) to record and easy eighteen length success over House Rules in second at 7/2 under Davy Russell for Henry De Bromhead.

Smart hurdler Dylan Ross went to post the 5/4 favourite for Noel Meade and Paul Carberry on his chasing debut but he crashed out at the second last after making a mistake at the previous fence.

Winning trainer Mouse Morris said afterwards: "I didn’t think it would be straightforward with the fences omitted but he was good.

"He is a serious lepper and he is very, very quick. He is a good ground horse and he done well to win today.

"He will probably get a rest now and he is the makings of a fair horse."

Baily Green was recording his third course and distance success this evening and his fourth novice chase victory.

Last time out he won a valuable handicap hurdle at Killarney in September.
