Mortal (14/1) won the Download The BoyleSports App Handicap Chase (Grade B) under talented 7lbs claimer Oakley Brown.

The King’s Theatre gelding was patiently handled before coming through in the straight to be on terms racing to the last.

He was pressed by Robin Des Foret on the run-in but saw off that one by a length and a quarter, with Blazer in third and Kupatana fourth.

The latter deserves credit for running so well as she was hard to pull up after two false starts. Smithscorner a winner at this track two days ago, was sent off 10/3 favourite and finished sixth.

The Joseph O’Brien-trained winner is out of Pomme Tiepy who was a smart chaser for Willie Mullins.

Mortal had made a winning debut over fences back in December 2018 at Fairyhouse and this was his first success since, after competing at the top level as a novice and then having a light enough campaign last term.

The successful rider caught the eye in bumpers and over hurdles last season, and this was his first winner over fences.

Winning trainer Joseph O'Brien was racing at the Curragh where he saddled two winners.
