First and last race double for Condon

Tue 23rd Aug 2011, 20:27

Ken Condon completed a first and last race double when Mojita took the concluding fillies maiden at Killarney.

The race developed into a protracted duel from the two furlong marker when Livia's Wake hit the front and was soon challenged by the eventual winner.

Shane Foley looked to be winning the battle as Mojita struck the front over a furlong out but the runner-up didn't back down and made her rival work hard for a head success.

The winning daughter of Montjeu had finished placed on her last three outings and Condon was relieved to see her get off the mark:-

"Like the first winner she wasn't winning out of turn. Her form figures entitled her to win and she was getting reward for her consistency.

"Shane said he thought he might have went a fraction too soon. It was an important win as she's nicely bred. She'll go for a little handicap now."
