Faheys dominant at Naas
It was a case of anything one Fahey brother can do, another can do it to as after Peter's win with Owega Star earlier, Paul stepped in to register a success with He'llberemembered under Emmet Mullins in the Copper Face Jacks Supporting Kildare GAA Brown Lad Handicap Hurdle at Naas.
A first success for Mullins (away for a considerable length of time in the meantime) since Lambro at the Fairyhouse Festival in April, He'llberemembered and the rest of this big field had a chance going to two out. Ad Idem looked to be going well at this stage but despite keeping on well on the run-in, that one, under Tom Doyle, was still a head down on He'llberemembered at the line.
This contest was certainly a triumph for the handicapper as the only one left behind was the pace-setting Made In Taipan who trailed in seventeen lengths adrift.
Paul Fahey said afterwards: "When he's right he pays his way but when he is not right we have to pay the vets well!
"We've been a long time waiting to get him into a decent race like that off a light weight.
"Emmet gave him a great ride and said that hopefully he'd win another one.
"There is a similar race for him at Cork in two weeks and he'll probably go there.
"If we could get a season injury free with him we'd send him over fences and hopefully he'd step up again." (EM)
The Stewards interviewed T.J. Doyle, rider of Ad Idem, concerning his use of the whip in the final 75 yards of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had edged to the front close to the finish but his mount was idling and the eventual winner was gaining to which he reacted by hitting his mount the last three hits in rapid succession
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that T.J. Doyle was in breach of R10 (3), by failing to give his mount a chance to respond and cautioned him having taken into consideration his very good record.
