Heavy ground is going to be the order of the day again at Fairyhouse this afternoon where a seven-race card takes place on the inner track with the action getting underway at 1.55.
This rescheduled fixture contains five maiden hurdles (two races divided) and Gordon Elliott could again be the trainer to follow after a four-timer for his powerful yard at Navan yesterday.
The Cullentra House team are represented by Showbusiness in the opening four-year-old maiden hurdle, and the Camelot gelding looks sure to go off at odds-on following a promising debut at Naas last month. Folcano also carries the now familiar colours of Noel and Valerie Moran in division one of the 2m3f maiden hurdle, and the six-year-old gelding is strongly fancied to gain compensation for a narrow defeat to Brazos in a controversial finish at Navan last time.
The Elliott team are also represented by Where It All Began second on debut at the Limerick Christmas meeting, who looks another short-priced favourite in the concluding bumper with Fair Frontieres (sold) a notable absentee.
Significant rain is forecast from tonight through Tuesday and Wednesday which will have an impact on the mid-week jump racing fixtures.
The ground at Punchestown is currently described as heavy ahead of the meeting there on Wednesday, which will take place on the inside track and finish on the inside straight.
There is fresh ground available at the County Kildare venue but 30mm of rain is forecast from tonight and continuing into Tuesday and Wednesday.
Thurles hosts the action on Thursday and is currently soft but there is a Yellow Rainfall Warning in place with approximately 40mm forecast on Tuesday and Wednesday. The situation is being monitored.
