Gordon Elliott repeated his 1-3 from the Grand National yesterday, this time in the Waterford & Tramore Racecourse Family Fun Afternoon Maiden Hurdle as Aintree hero Davy Russell doubled his score at the seaside venue.
Russell scored on his return to domestic action aboard John Kiely's Decision Time in the first, and here he donned the Tiger Roll silks of Gigginstown House Stud aboard Monatomic
The maroon and white were carried to victory for the second time in yesterday's Liverpool spectacular and again their margin of success was tight here.
Tiger Roll got the verdict by a head on Saturday, whilst for Monatomic it was by a short head and the same that he held Kingsteel (9/1 into 5/1) and Touch Base (his Gordon Elliot stable companion).
In a rousing finish it was then only a half length back to Kellyiscool in fourth.
"I was a winner everywhere, but the line was my most worrying point," reported Russell.
"He just lugged out a little bit, I'd say he was watching the horse on his outside. It's grand to get a mark for him now as he had been struggling."
A.W. Short, rider of Kingsteel trained by Leonard Whitmore, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount over reached.
J.J. Slevin, rider of Tillys Delight trained by G. Murphy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount burst a blood vessel.
