“I asked Paul what the plan was and he said ‘I’ll be late!’”, Noel Meade quipped after 5/4 favourite Dylan Ross won the beginners chase at Navan under a confident Paul Carberry ride.
Carberry stalked Lord Windermere (2/1) coming to the last where a great jump saw his charge hit the front, and he kept him going to prevail by a length and three parts at the end of two miles.
“The last day was bit of a disappointment, but he was probably beaten by a very good horse [second to Jenari at Naas on October 29],” Meade added.
“He jumped well. He’s very athletic. He’s a real rubber ball and he was given the perfect ride.
“We’ll stay at two miles. Paul thinks he wants better ground.
“He’ll be entered for St Stephen’s Day at Leopardstown. He mixed it with real good horses last year so there’s no reason why he shouldn’t again if he jumps well.
"The No Rush Man Syndicate are from Termonfeckin and they are a great bunch of lads and a pleasure to be with." Hi Big Man took third-placed money at 16/1, a further nine lengths back. Savello was well supported at the track from 7/1 to 9/2, but finished back in fifth of the eight runners.
