The drop back to five furlongs worked a treat for Gopsies Daughter as she claimed her third win of the season in the Derek O'Sullivan Memorial Apprentice Handicap at the Curragh.
Killian Hennessy was always prominent on the Captain Rio filly and hit the front passing the two pole.
The Denis Hogan-trained seven-year-old kept on gamely in the closing stages to record a three-parts-of-a-length victory. Little Clarinet edged the runner-up spot by a nose from Snow Patch
“The owners were delighted. She's been such a tough mare and has won a few for them now so it's great to see her win again,” said Hennessy.
“She was dropping back from six and she didn't seem to get the trip the last day here over six. Brought back to five today that seemed to do the job.
“I didn't want to hit the front as soon as I did but Denis Linehan left me in front about two out and I kind of had to give her all then but to be fair she's so tough she just kept at it the whole way to the line.”
