Livingstones Quest overcame decidedly ordinary and off-putting 'P0000' form-figures to win on handicap hurdle-debut at Naas today as the Gavin Cromwell trained, Brien Kane partnered gelding landed the Profile Systems-sponsored race at odds of 14/1.

The son of Showcasing had previously won once on the flat when trained in Britain by Rod Millman and today seemed to benefit from a drop to handicap company over jumps when, under a feather weight of 9st13lbs, beating runner-up Voscount Wilson by half a length.

Afterwards Cromwell said “it probably wasn’t much of a race and he loved that ground. He’ll go for something similar again.

“The owner Turlough Blessing had A Place Apart with me last year, and he’s a nephew of Colm O’Rourke (Meath footballer and GAA pundit).”
