Ceol Agus Ol was clipped from 66s into 40s, for the concluding Four Roads Maiden Hurdle at Roscommon, and anyone 'on' Pauline Gavin's seven-year-old, backed a winner to remember, as he scored in the hands of Brian Hayes (lost his right to claim with this success).

Mrs Gavin owns Ceol Agus Ol, with her daughter Sarah, and the son of Chevalier has progressed really well having only made his initial foray to the racecourse, at this venue earlier this month.

That debut wasn't without merit, when eventually ninth, and he since finished sixth at Ballinrobe, just six days back.

Hayes' mount came at the odds on favourite, Grangeclare Rosa from before the last, and soon in control he raced on for a three and three parts of a length win.

Mrs Gavin explained: "Brian knows him really well. I was disappointed with him last time in Ballinrobe but the track was too tight for him. He loves an ease in the ground and needs a galloping track.

"He'll maybe go to Galway next week for a handicap. He's always shown a good bit of ability but was very green on his first two starts.

"He seems to have learned now, and hopefully it's onwards and upwards."

The Stewards requested a report from Mrs Pauline Gavin, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Ceol Agus Ol, winner, as compared with its recent form.

The trainer reported that a step up in trip today on easy ground on a galloping track, together with him jumping better and being ridden more prominently may have brought about any apparent improvement in form.

Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.
