Billy De Kid opened his account at the 19th attempt and landed a bit of a touch into the bargain when taking the Tickincor Handicap Chase at Clonmel.

Tom Cooper’s charge was available at 20/1 earlier in the day and supported on track from 12/1 into 10/1.

Kevin Brouder, who only recorded his first winner earlier this month at his local track in Listowel, doubled his tally when getting the gelding home in an exciting finish.

The six-year-old held on by a diminishing head from Fiddlers Bow with Model Cloud only half a length further back in third. Wee Tiger as big as 20/1 and a wholesale gamble in the morning before being sent off the 7/2 favourite, was never a factor and made an inglorious exit when running out at the second last.

Brouder said, "He got in tight to the second last but is a tough horse and put his head down. I rode my first winner on the Friday of Listowel week so this is nice to get as well.

"I'm 20, from Listowel and based full-time with Tom Cooper."
