The opening race this evening at Galway The Electronic Retail Security Handicap was won by the Charles O'Brien trained Vignelaure Rose ridden by Fran Berry in the familiar colours of Vincent O'Brien.

Berry raced his mount in behind the leaders and improved to lead from over 1f out and stayed on under pressure to hold off the late efforts of Tom Hogan's Bonny Rose by a head.

Winning jockey Fran Berry said, "She ran around a bit when she got there but she kept at it well. They are tough conditions and the ground is very testing."
