Ballyroe Rambler the subject of significant support this morning, appreciated a drop in class to open his account in fine style in the two-mile maiden hurdle.

Not beaten too far behind Royal Bond possible The Tullow Tank at Naas last time, the Lahib gelding was backed earlier today from 4/1 into half those odds and was eventually sent off a 5/2 chance.

Mikey Fogarty oozed confidence when challenging 9/4 favourite Captainofthefleet at the second last but waited until after the last before asking for an effort.

The winner only needed to be shaken up to go clear on the run-in for a five and a half lengths verdict, with King Blue back in third.

Winning trainer John Berry said “He ran very well at Naas and he missed the last two otherwise he would have been a lot closer. He’ll go to Leopardstown at Christmas and he’s not too bad.”
