Joseph O'Brien's Andreas Vesalius took full advantage of Cadamosto s absence from the Coolmore Stud Calyx Race by burning his rivals off from the front. Silver Surfer broke best over this five furlongs but was swiftly passed on his inner by Andreas Vesalius and Dylan Browne McMonagle.

The grey son of Caravaggio took his four rivals along and kicked a couple of lengths clear of Silver Surfer a furlong and a half down.

Andreas Vesalius (11/4) maintained the gallop and beat 2/1 favourite Silver Surfer by a length and three quarters.

Assistant trainer Brendan Powell said: “Shane (Crosse) said the last twice he was crying out for seven. Dylan has done the right thing as he’s sat in front and when he kicked he had them at it behind. He said the further he went the better he went.

“He’s a sweet horse, a lovely temperament and the most laid-back horse you will get.

“Dylan said he could go for a Listed race. He’s tough and will cope with most types of ground.

“That’s our first two-year-old winner and I think we have only run about three.”

Cadamosto was the odds-on favourite before racing began and was taken out due to the ground (Soft, Yielding in places).

Paddy Power gave Andreas Vesalius a first show of 25/1 for the Coventry at Royal Ascot.

Andreas Vesalius was a 16th-century Flemish physician and anatomist.
