Powell rides out 7lb claim on Wakai Umi
Wakai Umi double her career total when making all in the five-furlong nursery at Dundalk. Fri 21st OctHayes at double on All In The Hips
All In The Hips overturned Naas form with Wakai Umi to land the five-furlong nursery at Down Royal. Mon 26th SepWakai Umi wins on nursery debut
Wakai Umi (12/1) made a winning handicap debut at Naas today, as the Ciaran Murphy trained filly landed the Care At Home Services Nursery, under jockey Shane Foley. Thu 15th Sep
After race at Dundalk Fri, 21st Oct, 2022 (1st)
She's a very quick filly and she has been the whole year. She was weak early on and she had a couple of okay runs but, once we got her straight before Naas, she has been very consistent. There's no question she is going to improve. She's an out-and-out five-furlong filly. We were hoping she would like the surface here and she did. Probably better ground suits her. Listen, the handicapper didn't miss her the first day - she got 9lb. It probably stopped her in Down Royal. He dropped her 1lb so we felt coming here with the 7lb off (Jamie Powell's claim) we were in a good place. There aren't many options for her over five but we'll have a look at the programme book and we won't rush her out. She's in the Sale, I'm not sure if she's going there or not or what the owners are going to plan. Fair play to the owners, they have been patient with her and let me do my think and I'm delighted with the result.

After race at Naas Thu, 15th Sep, 2022 (1st)
she's has been slightly tricky but now she's straightened out and has come good. She's always shown that speed and it's lovely that she's now matured with racing. I think it's the sire - they are sharp and precocious. She was ahead of herself but now she's learned how to race and Shane was very good on her. We'll see how she goes now and maybe go for something like that again. He picked the right side and I was delighted because I think this side in Naas is more favoured - he took the bull by the horns and was very good on her. The filly was good as well and she's progressed lovely. Fair play to the owners (Ballymullen Stud Farm) as they've been patient.
