That makes up for being beaten a short-head in the maiden,. I was humming and hawing about whether to run him at all from his draw. I rang Conor Hoban this morning and he talked me into it. He said 'I know what I'm doing' and he carried out the plan very well. In fairness to Simon (Condron, owner) he was going to let me decide either way what to do. He's improving all the time and hopefully can keep going. He'll probably come back here in a few weeks. Conor predicted he would get a nice lead off the second horse and that he'd tow him right into it, which is what he wants. He was good at the line. A lot of it was down to Conor and I have to give him the credit.

That's great. He handled the surface as a two-year-old, he ran quite well here as a two-year-old, but last year he just wasn't right and didn't go well here at all. We were hopeful enough he'd handle the surface and Conor gave him a lovely ride, he's done it well. He travels well and he doesn't kill himself when he hits the front, so hopefully there might be another day in him. Simon (Condron), who owns him, has been very patient with him so it's paying off now.

It's good to reward the owner for his patience with me and the horse,. He's been a very immature horse, mentally and physically. We knew he was coming right but we needed a little bit of ease in the ground, we've been waiting for it. He's probably a horse that can improve again, hopefully, and keep going forward. He always showed us something, but it was just little niggles and immaturity. Fair play to Simon (Condron, owner) he's been very patient and loyal to me so I'm delighted.
