Games leads Ferguson charge
If the betting firms are to be believed then this year's Cheltenham Festival could well be the one which sees John Ferguson break his duck and saddle his first winner at the iconic meeting. Mon 09th MarNo surprises after novice forfeits
There were no major shocks at the latest forfeit stages for the novice events at the Cheltenham Festival. Wed 18th FebIn-foal Indigo in 66/1 shocker
The Willie McCreery trained Indigo Lady sprang a 66/1 shocker as she made all under Seamie Heffernan to take the feature at the Curragh, the Listed TRM Silver Stakes. Sun 08th JunUrsa Major returns to action at the Curragh
Ursa Major is unbeaten in three efforts at the Curragh and returns to the track after a long lay-off for the Listed TRM Silver Stakes. Sun 08th JunQewy all the way
Qewy was soon in front in the Listed Heritage Stakes at Leopardstown and that was a position he never relinquished to spring an 11/1 surprise (outsider of the five strong field) under Declan McDonogh. Wed 02nd AprMaputo bidding for Royal Whip honours
Mark Johnston is looking to see Maputo's progression continue in the Royal Whip Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday. Sun 11th AugLenebane Airgead goes to Bolger & Cleary
Bunairgead, under Rory Cleary, ran out a good winner of the feature Listed Lenebane Stakes at Roscommon this evening, providing her trainer Jim Bolger with a double on the card (won the first with Home School). The three-year-old daughter of New Approach finished a creditable eighth behind Just The Judge in the 1000 Guineas at the Curragh in May and she was last seen finishing a close up third behind Venus De Milo in the Listed Naas Oaks Trial late last month. Stepped up in trip to a mile and a half for the first time, she was available at 6/1 this morning, opening on-course at 11/2 before going off at 9/2. Settled in third behind leader Missunited, she closed entering the straight and travelled strongly behind the leaders. She came with her challenge between horses from two furlongs out, soon hitting the front and staying on well from there to draw clear in the final furlong. El Salvador (11/4) finished two and three parts of a length back in second under Joseph O’Brien for his father Aidan, while Majenta was three parts of a length back in third at 14/1 under Chris Hayes for Kevin Prendergast. Qewy went off the well-supported 5/2 favourite (was 6/1 last night with Paddy Power) but he finished a disappointing sixth under Declan McDonogh for John Oxx. Missunited opened the 11/4 favourite last night with Paddy Power but she drifted out to 9/2 on-course having opened at 4/1. After attempting to make all she faded away tamely over a furlong out, coming home last of the eight. Rory Cleary said afterwards: "She travelled great for me all the way and I got a lovely split at the right time. She put the race to bed fairly quickly." Mon 08th JulReview navan 14th Jun

Punters form an orderly Qewy at Navan
Qewy benefitted from a no-nonsense ride by Declan McDonogh to justify favouritism in the Lynn Lodge Stud Maiden at Navan. Fri 14th JunTrading Leather a horse to follow
Trading Leather, who made an eyecatching debut in a Listed race at Leopardstown two weeks ago, duly dotted up in the mile maiden for two-year-olds at Gowran Park. Sun 23rd Sep
After race at Leopardstown Wed, 2nd Apr, 2014 (1st)
He was a hard horse to weigh up as he only had the three runs last year. He was very impressive when he won his maiden on soft ground so we knew he handled soft but we didn't know if he'd handle it this heavy. It's hard to find races for him and we said we'd let him take his chance in a listed race. We said we'd let him run here and find out his capabilities on the ground. He took off turning in and he found another gear. He won well . he's tough and he's genuine. Things didn't work out for him after his first run last year. We didn't know if his rating was a true reflection of his ability . it was a very high mark for a maiden winner. Obviously he goes on the soft . we knew that from last year and he didn't like it good to firm (at Roscommon and the Curragh).
