Codd almost there after Punchestown double
It looks like Jamie Codd is all but home five winners ahead of Patrick Mullins for the amateur rider's crown after the dual point-to-point champion doubled up at Punchestown on Minutestomidnight in the Grade 3 Weatherbys General Stud Book European Breeders Fund INH Flat Race. Codd's busy spell paying off
Jamie Codd's 'criss-crossing' of the Irish Sea from Aintree paid dividends when he landed the concluding Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Mares INH Flat Race at Wexford on Jonathan Sweeney's Minutestomidnight (8/1). Fri 07th AprReview wexford 7th Apr

After race at Punchestown Wed, 26th Apr, 2017 (1st)
Then to come back and win a bumper at Wexford before stepping-up and winning a graded race here — it's just a fantastic bit of training. Jonathan has a small operation but if anybody looks at his strike rate it's unbelievable. Whenever he runs them they usually win. He's been good to me too. I had a great run the whole way. I just wanted to keep her out a little bit so that she'd breathe and relax. Once I turned in and got stuck into her she hasn't stopped. It was more idling than anything because she kept finding. She's a smart filly. She's very good because she's still very inexperienced. It's Larry's (Murphy, owner) decision whether or not she'll be sold here tomorrow evening at the sale. In an ideal world someone will buy her and leave her with me. She just works with another horse or two at home. Jamie said he had to get after her a bit but she just idled in front.

After race at Wexford Fri, 7th Apr, 2017 (1st)
She is a lovely mare. Jamie won a point-to-point in Lingstown on her, that's over a year ago now. She was ready to run earlier but she got a small cut and that just set her back,. Fair play to her owner Larry, he knows the horse well and he never put me under pressure. I suppose I was under a bit of pressure this evening with Jamie flying home and flying back tomorrow, but thanks be to God it worked out. We are delighted, the plan was today and we will see where we go from here. She won her point-to-point by half a length, but she was careful jumping and Jamie said that day if she had jumped the last she would have won by eleven lengths, and that if she had jumped all of them she would have won by a football pitch! . Larry (Murphy, the owner) is from Castlelyons and he used to ride himself. We had great success together, he rode in four point-to-points for me and won the four of them. He doesn't ride anymore, he broke his leg and had trouble with his weight.
