After race at Punchestown Wed, 11th Oct, 2023 (1st)
Minella Indo has given us so many great days and I’m delighted to see him start his season like that. His work was really good, but it was also good before the Gold Cup and it just didn’t happen for him there. It was a messy start and it just didn’t happen for him. He jumped from fence to fence today, his ears were pricked and Rachael said he really enjoyed it. I’m also delighted that Barry (Maloney, owner) is here as well. We entered him in the north (Down Royal's Champion Chase) but that’s only a couple of weeks away, so we’ll see. We can enjoy today and decide in the next couple of weeks. the Grand National is something we can discuss. Coming here after the Gold Cup run, we couldn’t make any big plans but we’re really encouraged now for the rest of the season.

it's an emotional day when you see pictures of Jacksy (De Bromhead) up around the place. Often these things don't happen in racing but to win the big race here at our local track on this day is fantastic. I'm delighted for Indo and the Maloneys and for everyone. It's brilliant to see the crowd here and the roar he got was amazing. We know everyone is thinking of us and it's just brilliant. The support from everyone really helps us through it. the horse deserved it and Rachael was brilliant on him. She gave him a really good ride and he jumped brilliant apart from the last possibly. He just got under it a bit. I thought we were going to get done but Rachael really got him over the line, it was fantastic. We will enjoy today, this is a fantastic race to win. He hasn't won since the Gold Cup (in 2021). We were thinking about the Irish Gold Cup but we might just head straight to Cheltenham - we will see.

It was incredible. Jack was brilliant on Minella Indo, who is just such a tough horse. It’s all down to the crew at home, who work so hard. And the support of all our clients, it’s just brilliant. Whatever it is about here — he’s a little bit like Put The Kettle On — he just comes alive. He’s fast asleep at home on a daily basis, but even saddling him today, he was like he was before the Albert Bartlett — he was kicking the back door and so up for it. We obviously had the mishap at Christmas and he wasn’t as good in the Irish Gold Cup, but we wanted to get a clear round that day and Rachael rode him brilliantly. It’s all come together here and it’s fantastic. To win a Cheltenham Gold Cup is something you dream about.

I'm delighted with that. He did everything good, it was a lovely race for him and I'm glad we've got it behind us now. You couldn't have asked him to do it any better. He jumped really well and did everything he had to do. I would imagine we'll aim towards the Savills Chase at Christmas, I think that will be our next one. He's had two nice races for second-season novices and now we have to go against the big lads and see how we fare there.
