That was good. I'm happy now but beforehand I got very watery as I just thought it's impossible for a three-year-old to do that. He was a bit switched on and a bit buzzy but as Kerri said 'he's just a freak Dad' and I said 'you're right'. . I'm not thinking next, I don't go beyond today as I could be dead tomorrow!. That ground is as quick as he'd want. It's all about ground with him and he could have the summer off. We knew the record for three-year-olds was horrible in the Gladness but because the ground could dry and stay dry, we came here. You could be talking about the Ballycorus and races like that but he can't run on anything better than that ground. Seven is his trip, Colin knows he'll get further but not at the moment. I'm absolutely over the moon with Sh Boom. She's grown into a lovely stakes filly and Gary (Carroll) said there is one of them in her. That's brilliant, Gowran was only a piece of work for her the other day. We were only taking a pot as we own her ourselves, so to get black-type for these fillies is fantastic. It was a good race all around and I can go home now and watch the match in peace!

He brought to the track what we have been seeing at home and if we had a Madrid horse it was him. He’s grown up a lot from two to three. He was very immature last year and we gelded him. Last year he was a very free sweater and did well to do what he did. We think he’ll get further as well so we’ll have a bit of fun with him. He’s owner bred so Donal (Boylan) is obviously a lucky owner.

He had been doing that at home. We were worried about the ground, because he has a high knee action, but I walked it, and it was lovely. Colin rode it and said it was lovely, but he came in and said he wouldn’t want it any quicker. He should only get better as the season goes on. There are no winners’ races on the programme, so his hand could be forced to go for the Blenheim (listed race over 6f, September 20th) at Fairyhouse. We’ll take him home and see how he is, and he’s a next-year horse anyway. He’s Donal’s (Boylan, owner and breeder from Ennis) first horse with us. He has been away for a while, but he’s had horses with Eddie O’Grady and horses in England, but it’s his first with us, so it’s a good start for everybody.
