L'yser completes Cork treble for O'Sullivan
Local jockey Michael O'Sullivan had an afternoon to remember when L'yser completed the final leg of a treble when landing the Grade B Bar One Racing Price Boosts Everyday Easter Handicap Hurdle at Cork. Sun 09th AprL'yser scores for Connell & McInerney
Barry Connell's L'yser appreciated the drop to unplaced maiden hurdle company at Fairyhouse today, landing a such titled Book Tickets @ fairyhouse.ie race under Donie McInerney. Sat 29th Jan

the danger (Spillane's Tower) went at the second which simplified the matter and other than the two of those, the others looked fairly exposed. Our lad ran the last day beat a well-handicapped horse at Fairyhouse and the two pulled well clear so we were expecting him to come and win today. The ground is perfect for him and it opens up options. I'm tempted to go chasing straightaway with him and we might keep him on the go during the summer. We'll look to the likes of Roscommon and Galway where there is an ease during the summer. He is a big horse who might have more respect for a fence.

It was a competitive race. After Leopardstown there wasn't another two-and-a-half mile race worth a few quid so I think everybody was in the same boat waiting for this. It was a little mini Galway Hurdle. It's not an easy race to win, it takes a good horse to do it. Obviously he got in off a light weight and Michael was claiming 5lb so it was all a help. He's a horse that handles a bit of nice ground, for a big horse, so I'd say we'll keep him going. We'll probably take in another handicap hurdle before the end of the season and then probably look at going novice chasing in the new season. He's very scopey. His jumping was a little hit and miss today but he has a good old engine.

these unplaced maidens give a horse like him a good opportunity as this time of the year you are probably coming up against Graded horses in maidens. He’d a couple of nice runs in maidens and the step up in trip has been a help but he’ll need to smarten up his jumping going into handicap company. He missed the first couple and wasn’t great over the last few either but he has a good engine. Given his size we won’t delay him over hurdles too long — we’ll probably go jumping a fence next year.
