Celebrations on hold as Townend wins Down Royal opener
"It wasn't a strong race and he galloped and he jumped away. He stumbled at the third last was the only thing," said yesterday's Gold Cup hero Paul Townend after winning the opening Racing TV Maiden Hurdle at Down Royal on Roll Again (100/30 into 11/4). Sat 16th Mar
After race at Listowel Fri, 13th Sep, 2019 (1st)
He is a lovely horse and the step up to 2m4f did the job,. His brother (The Big Apple) wasn't a bad horse, I won a bumper on him so he must have been all right and it is a lovely family. We always liked him from day one and it is great he has gone and done it. It's grand to get today over with and Frank (Berry) and J.P. (McManus, owner) will come up with a plan.
