R. Walsh, rider of Madurai (GER), trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was outpaced throughout this race. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Madurai (GER), trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. The Stewards enquired into an incident on the approach to the second last hurdle involving Afatcat (GB), ridden by R.T. Dunne, placed fifth, Do Try Dolly, ridden by P.D. Kennedy, unplaced and Magnetic Force, ridden by A.E. Lynch, placed fourth, where it appeared that Do Try Dolly was taken off a line between two spurs marking this part of the track. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by R.T. Dunne riding carelessly and therefore suspended him for 1 raceday. The Stewards enquired into an incident inside the final 150 yards of this race involving Afatcat (GB), ridden by R.T. Dunne, placed fifth and Magnetic Force, ridden by A.E. Lynch, placed fourth, where it appeared that Magnetic Force was left tight for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that R.T. Dunne had caused the incident by riding carelessly and therefore suspended him for 1 raceday. Furthermore arising out of R.T. Dunne's evidence at this enquiry where he informed the Stewards that his mount was hanging inwards all the way to the line, the Stewards found him to be in breach of Rule 213(ii) by failing to report this fact in the first instance following this race and consequently cautioned him concerning his responsibility in this regard. . The Stewards received a report from Miss Colleen Murphy , Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that L.J. McGuinness , rider of All's Quiet , weighed out at 1.8 lbs overweight in addition to the 2lbs overweight that had been declared in accordance with the provisions of Rule 195. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had experienced continuous difficulty with his weight in recent times and had not been riding continuously to keep it consistent. He further added that he had lost 6lbs to ride today but he had made the decision in recent days to revert back to Q.R status. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that L.J. McGuinness was in breach of Rule 198 and they therefore suspended him for 2 racedays having taken his previous record into consideration.

A hurdle for four yrs old and upwards that, at entry, are rated 113 or less (also open to horses rated 114-123)
Weights - 4-y-o 10st 10lb; 5-y-o and up 11st 2lb
Penalties - Performances before 4th July for every 1lb above the rating of 113 1lb extra; On or after 4th July for each hurdle race won 4lb extra; Horses that have not run three times over hurdles and/or do not have a published handicap hurdle rating may enter and run at the discretion of the handicapper provided their performances are rated 123 or less.
