The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr.W.Fleming, regarding the failure of C.T. Keane, rider of Unrequited, placed, first, to weigh in after this race. Evidence was heard from the Clerk of the Scales and the rider concerned. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards disqualified Unrequited in accordance with Rule 230(ii) and having considered the riders record in this regard, suspended him for ten race days and ordered that he forfeit his riding fee, as he was in breach of Rule 227(i). Amended result:Coolfighter placed first, Ring Chief, placed second, The Fox Tully, placed third and Flowing Air, placed fourth. The Stewards enquired into an incident before the turm into the straight involving The Fox Tully, ridden by A.P. Thornton, placed third and Crafty Codger, ridden by C.D. Hayes unplaced. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no further action. D.P. McDonogh, rider of The Big Cat, trained by John M. Oxx, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount had to check one furlong from the finish. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined An Fear Ciuin, trained by David Wachman, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (80 = 10st)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 80 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 80 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 80 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
