He loves this place. I fancied him. He is a horse that is hard to get fit, you can work him all you like at home, but there is nothing better than a race. He's had three or four runs leading up to this. He ran in Clonmel and ran well, but I had to give him another run on the Flat at Leopardstown just to get him right for here. The boys wanted to come here, they told me that they wanted to win this race at Christmas time! It's grand when it works out. I was surprised he was 25/1 last night. I suppose he hasn't got the gears for the Flat anymore and that run at Leopardstown probably put a lot of people off. He loves the ups and downs around here. It's great for the owners after Masterchippy broke his leg earlier (in the fourth race). He'll tip away for the summer and he will probably come back here in August.

I'm not sure if it's the surface or the light catching his eye but he doesn't seem to like Dundalk. He's a different horse back on grass,. He's in again at Leopardstown on Sunday over a mile and a half and, if he's okay after this, he could go there. No stalls today helped a lot. He's a big horse and is often slow out of stalls. That's his fifth win of the season and he owes nobody anything.

I thought we were only third! He was on his last legs, two five is stretching him. He (David Splaine) said once he saw the hill he was just on empty. He pulls very hard. I didn't think we were up, he was half a length up with five strides to go.

that's three in-a-row over hurdles for him now. He was lame after Killarney and was very lame for three or four days after that and I actually thought he was gone. I nursed him back and he hadn't done any work until now, that was his first bit. That should set him up for Sunday hopefully and he'll come back for the 0-123 (handicap hurdle). David said he got a little bit tired after the last but I'd expect that out of him. He missed a full week after Killarney, and we were only trotting him the week after that. We had to come here, they all wanted him to come here so I had no choice! He loves this place. We will see how he is in the morning and hopefully he'll back on Sunday.

He deserved to get the race at Wexford on Wednesday, and we decided to run here as we thought it was the last chance for a while to run him in a 0-102. It’s a big drop in grade from the other night. When he hits form he’s good, and he did the same on the flat a few years ago when he won four races close together. I did too much with him at home last year, and he was way too keen. We decided to go back to the old ways and do nothing at home only a hack canter and run him on the track. He could run at the Curragh next Friday in a 0-70.

I thought it was the right outcome. If it was a 'neck' fair enough but he got two good bumps and was taken off his line and was only beaten a short-head. It took him a long time to learn how to settle but he will drop in now and you can ride him as you like. He might run at Gowran on Saturday in a 0-102 handicap hurdle.

He did it well. Seamie was disgusted with the ride he gave him the last day but in the end it didn't matter. He is a quirky horse and it is hard at home to keep his head right. We do very little with at home but we've kept him busy. Once the ground is gone he is gone. If it stays dry he will go to Listowel on Wednesday for a mile and a half handicap. He is well handicapped over hurdles too so we will see what happens with him.

I don't know much about him but he'll run tomorrow in a maiden hurdle.I only brought him home Thursday night and gave him bed and breakfast and brought him back here today and that's about it!. I was at home on Thursday evening when the boys claimed him and gave me a ring. Between the jigs ‘n' reels with HRI we got everything in on time and we were allowed to run him today.

Danny said in a race like that where he has confidence he rides nice. When he gets a bit of competition he is not as brave as he looks. We will have a look at Saturday or Sunday for him now and hopefully he will come back, more than likely for the rated race on Saturday. It is rated flat race for horses 70 and under and he is rated 67 so he should be spot on. The race on Sunday is a maiden hurdle but he is more likely to go for the one on Saturday.
