Prior to this race, Roger Fell, the trainer of Zihaam (GB), was asked to explain why he was running the gelding here at Newcastle, after the trainer’s representative had previously reported that Zihaam (GB)’s improvement in form was due to being dropped back in trip to 1 mile 2 furlongs.
His explanation that in hindsight the trip may not have been the reason for the gelding's improved form and the owner wished to run Zihaam (GB) again over 2 miles, having previously ran a good race over this distance, was noted.
