- Stewards Report
An enquiry was held to consider why Neil King was running Sackett (GB) here at Fontwell on going described as Good, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Bangor-on-Dee on 18 May 2019 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer explained that, in his opinion, the going at Bangor was rough and patchy and having walked the course at Fontwell, he was happy for Sackett (GB) to take its chance.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference after the final fence when the winner, One More Tune (IRE), ridden by Tom Cannon, interfered with Sackett (GB), placed second, ridden by Bryony Frost.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of One More Tune (IRE) as Sackett (GB) was taken only marginally off its intended line, the gelding had lost little momentum and Frost had to take only a momentary check to switch Sackett (GB) right-handed.
Added to this, the interference had been a reasonable distance from the line, and One More Tune (IRE) had always appeared to be holding the second, with a length and a quarter between them at the line.
Cannon was cautioned for careless riding for allowing his mount to drift left-handed towards the rail without sufficient correction, causing Frost to take a check.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Nativegetaway (IRE), placed third, had a wound on its left-hind fetlock.
