Walsh, rider of William Du Berlais (FR) trained by E. Bolger, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled and was pulled up. The Stewards requested a report from Thomas Gibney, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Robin De Roost, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge struggled throughout the winter on soft ground in better quality races. He added that his yard has now hit form and today's good ground helped his charge return to form. He also stated that the application of cheekpieces may have contributed to the improved form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
