Nina was all the help he needed there and it was a good performance and definitely the jockey was a big help. He has run over hurdles and took a while to come. The Stewards fined Andrew Slattery, trainer, ?350 for lodging a passport in respect of Spirit Of The Rain, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order. The Stewards requested a report from A.J.Martin, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Sweet Company, placed first, as compared with its recent form. A.J. Martin reported that he had acquired this animal from another trainer at a time when he was running very keenly. He added that today was his third run on the flat and he previously ran over nine furlongs at Ballinrobe on the 18th July where he settled well. Today he ran over twelve furlongs and settled well from flagfall. He felt that by settling well it contributed to his success. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
