Percy Street (GB), placed fifth, jumped right-handed at the second fence, hampering Storm Home (IRE), placed fourth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The winner, Middlebrow (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Sedgefield on 23 April 2019 where the gelding finished last of the four finishers, beaten by 51¼ lengths.
It was noted that Donald McCain could offer no explanation for Middlebrow (IRE)’s improved form, other than the yard were in better form at present.
Middlebrow (IRE) was routine tested.
The performance of King Cnut (FR), which started joint-second favourite and finished sixth, beaten by 12½ lengths, was considered.
Chris Gordon could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of King Cnut (FR) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
