The Veterinary Officer reported that Jac Jumper (FR) was chestnut and not bay as published in the race card.
The winner, Baron De Midleton (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Cheltenham on 16 December 2023, where the gelding was pulled up over fences on going officially described as Soft.
The explanation from the representative of Brian Ellison, that the gelding was suited by the better ground, which was Good to Soft, Soft in places on this occasion and benefited from the drop in grade from Class 2 to Class 4 was noted.
Baron De Midleton (IRE) was routine tested.
The performance of Charles St (GB), which finished fourth, beaten by 33 lengths was considered.
Fergal O’Brien’s representative could offer no explanation other than Mr Tom Broughton reported that the gelding was never travelling.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that OUR BILL’S AUNT (IRE), placed third, lost its left fore shoe and Jac Jumper (FR), which was pulled up, lost its right fore shoe.
