- Stewards Report
Permission was given for Presenting Yeats (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held to consider interference rounding the final bend involving Belle Jour (IRE), placed third, ridden by Mr Freddie Gordon, and Rubys Reward (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Ben Jones.
Being a 7lb claiming amateur rider, Gordon was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
Gordon was suspended for 2 days on dates to be notified for him for careless riding for allowing his mount to drift left-handed when insufficiently clear, leaving Rubys Reward (GB) short for room against the rail and having to be checked by Jones.
The winner, The Wise Traveller (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Sedgefield on 8 April 2022, where the gelding was pulled up.
Charlie Longsdon could offer no explanation for the gelding's improved form other than he may have benefitted from a break of 137 days.
His explanation was noted; The Wise Traveller (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Page Fuller reported that Between The Waters (IRE), which was pulled up, ran too free.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Viking Ruby (GB), placed fourth, had sustained an injury to its right-fore knee.
