An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving the winner, Cruz Control (FR), ridden by Stan Sheppard and Marty Byrde (GB), placed second, ridden by James Best.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Cruz Control (FR)’s placing as the gelding had initially intimidated Marty Byrde (GB) slightly off its intended line, before the two made minor contact in the final half furlong which the Stewards believed was equally apportionable, with the winning distance of a head.
The interference was found to be accidental as both horses moved marginally off their lines, with the two riders taking acceptable measures to prevent interference from occurring.
