Permission was given for KING’S SLIPPER to wear a hood in the Parade Ring only and for Alnaseem (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
Further permission was given for Lawmaking (GB) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post.
The Stewards noted that there were two incidents of interference.
In the first incident, approximately seven furlongs out, a free-running Wild Hope (GB), unplaced, had to be heavily restrained by its rider to avoid the heels of the winner Alnaseem (GB).
In the second incident, approximately five furlongs out, Wild Hope (GB), unplaced, continued to run freely and be heavily restrained to avoid the heels of KING’S SLIPPER, placed seventh, but after viewing a recording of both incidents, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong involving Love Dreams (IRE), placed third, ridden by Marco Ghiani, the winner, Alnaseem (GB), ridden by David Egan and Variyann (FR), placed second, ridden by Kieran Shoemark.
Ghiani was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he continued to use his whip in his left hand after his mount had shown a tendency to drift right-handed, which resulted in both Alnaseem (GB) and Variyann (FR) being taken off their intended lines.
Following the race, James Doyle, the rider of Royal Dynasty (GB), which started second-favourite and finished sixth, and Liam Keniry, the rider of Lawmaking (GB), unplaced, both reported that their mounts were slowly away.
Oisin McSweeney reported that Wild Hope (GB), unplaced, ran too free.
