I had him in pre-training a few years ago before he went off to bigger yards, and when he came up for sale six weeks ago I was always going to buy him. We took a chance by coming wide and he jumped super. He is owned by David O'Rourke, a neighbour of mine, and he agreed that he was a smashing horse and it's my first winner for him. Miss S. Ahern, rider of Analyse That, trained by Sean Aherne, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount felt lame and was pulled up. The Stewards interviewed Mr J.C. Barry, rider of Manuka, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.4, in that he used the whip without giving his mount time to respond and having considered his record, suspended him for one race day. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Day Day, trained by J.A.Berry, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be coughing post race. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Analyse That, trained by Sean Aherne, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards rated 80-95
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after time of declarations shall not be less than 12st 4lbs In accordance with HRI Directive 3 (ii) (a) the maximum stipulated weight in this race is 12st 4lb and the minimum stipulated weight is 10st 4lb
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won.
